Elementary School

Jon Kohlmeier

Birthdate: August 31

Education: I graduated from Concordia High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana in 1980. Later in life I attended Concordia Teacher's College (a.k.a. Concordia University, Seward, Nebraska) and graduated in 1995. I have taken a few courses during the summer months – just to stay current with trends in education.

Personal Info: I was born in St. Louis, Missouri and have lived in up-state New York, Indiana, Illinois and Nebraska. I have been married to Naomi since 2003. Combined, we have seven children and four grand-children. My first call to teach was to Zion Lutheran in Matteson, Illinois. After four years I was called to be the 5th grade teacher and assistant principal of St. John in Seward, Nebraska.

Enjoys: The one thing I enjoy the most is anything that keeps me active. Being outdoors, right in the middle of God's creation, is what I really enjoy (e.g. Camping, hiking, gardening). I know that I will not experience Eden until I reach heaven, but while I'm here on earth I will take care of what God has given for my enjoyment to the best of my ability. I also like growing extra produce to share.

Fun Facts: I graduated from high school at seventeen and instead of pursuing an Eagle Scout award in Boy Scouts, I started an inner-city Boy Scout troop in Rochester, NY.
In the fall of 1997 I received the first "Timothy Award” from the Northern Illinois District. The award was given to an outstanding new teacher who had been teaching for less than five years.

What I love about my position: I get to share Jesus with every student. Letting the students know how much Jesus loves them brings me great joy.

Bible verse with special personal meaning: The Bible verse that has special personal meaning for me is the one I just finished reading.
